In writer-director Sam Fuller's hard-hitting Korean War drama, Sgt. Gene Evans, survivor of a massacre by North Koreans, joins a patrol en route to a Buddhist temple where they are to establish an observation post. The temple holds a mad enemy officer who remains dangerous after his capture, working to set the men of the patrol against one another.
