CELEBRITY BILLIARDS (Television Series) (1967)

Synopsis

Pool hustler and self-proclaimed “greatest pool shooter of all time,” Rudolf Walter Wanderone, Jr., became known by many monikers, including “Triple Smart,” “Double Smart Fats,” “Bank Shot Bandit,” “One Pocket Maestro,” and “Sultan of Stroke.”  He became famous around the world as “Minnesota Fats,” a name he purloined after a character in the 1959 Walter Tevis novel, “The Hustler.” The film version was a critical and financial success, with Jackie Gleason giving a memorable performance as the quasi-fictional Minnesota Fats.

The charismatic, colorful, Minnesota Fats boasted he was “the greatest pool shooter of all time,” and, no doubt, he was not only an excellent player, but equal parts publicist, entertainer, and huckster! Here is your chance to see “Mr. Fats” in top form…having a great time playing with his quick witted show business pals --

Each star goes two matches with Minnesota Fats, and a virtuoso trick shot display by Fats.
